Doug Nelson Honored with Tribute for Service |
||||||||||||||||||
At a recent board meeting, it was announced that a tribute is being built to honor longtime board member Doug Nelson for his many years of dedication and sacrifices as a volunteer, mentor and supporter of the Northwest Vintage Car & Motorcycle Museum since its inception. On April 18, Andy Ottolia presented Doug with a photo of what the tribute is going to look like when it is hung in the Nelson Exhibit Hall. The plan is to have the tribute completed in the next month or so while the Exhibit Hall is in transition from vehicle storage to our annual exhibits. |

The Northwest Vintage Car & Motorcycle Museum works with local schools to teach automotive skills to high school students at Powerland Heritage Park. The Museum provides the facility and mentors who teach automotive mechanics, metal fabricating, woodworking, spray painting, automotive electrical, metal casting and foundry work, upholstery, safety, teamwork and car show etiquette. Since the program began, we have had over 400 students participate in the Speedster program. Several of our Speedster students have gone on to Chemeketa Community College’s automotive program. |
